Today the duties of the Evzones are of a purely ceremonial nature. The most characteristic mission of the Evzones is the guarding of The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier located in the parliament, in central Athens. In detail, the missions of the Presidential Guard are:

• Symbolic guarding of The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier
• Symbolic guarding of the Presidential Mansion
• Symbolic guarding of the gate of the barracks
• The official raising and lowering of the flag on the Sacred Rock of the Acropolis, every Sunday and on National Holidays
• Serving as guard of honour of the President of the Republic and of the leaders of foreign countries
• Serving as guard of honour of the ambassadors of foreign countries while they present their credentials to the President of the Republic
• Official changing of the guard at The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier every Sunday morning at 11:00
• Honorary escorts annually, of the Holy Light from Jerusalem to Athens
• Participation in events of the Homogeneity in New York, on the  25^th of March and parade on 5^th Avenue
• Honors at the reception for the establishment of the Republic which takes place annually at the Presidential Mansion
• Participation in major events like the awarding of medals to the 2004Olympic Marathon Runners
• Participation in major events of the Greek Army, like in El Alamein and in Rimini
