Sunday is a day of rest and relaxation for all the corps of the Greek Army except the Presidential Guard.

The program begins with the hoisting of the flag on the Rock of Acropolis. An Honouring Company consisted of Evzones, one Officer and one with Cretan Uniform and the accompanying band, execute the hoisting of the flag. The same happens in the afternoon at the dip of the flag.

Around 09:30, the ritual begins in the camp of the Presidential Guard. A Company of Evzones in open order honors the flag which is carried by an Officer of the Presidential Guard.

Then the entire corps heads to The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier via the V,Sofias avenue. One stream of the road closes down and the sight of the Evzones descending the street is unique. The crowd watches the Evzones parade with awe, in an impressive formation. Syntagma Square is full of tourists, eager to watch the Official Change. The change process is the same as in other days, but becomes more impressive with the presence of the entire Company of the Evzones and with the Steps of the Change.

By the end of the Change and the sound of the National Anthem, the Company returns to the camp in the same way. Remarkable is the fact that the Evzones who are in service at the Tomb, from the moment the Company comes until the moment the Company leaves, are in the “Present Arms” position.
