Who can become Evzones ;

All infantry soldiers that abide by the selection requirements.  

Candidates:

The selection of the Evzones is made in two stages:

In the first stage. Officers of the Presidential Guard visit the Recruits Infantry Training Centers and make the first choice.

In the second stage they who were selected after their basic training at the Training Center and at campaign battalions, move to the Presidential Guard where the second stage of the selection takes place

Those who are cut back due to physical problems return to their regiments to continue their term. A large part goes to the Mixed Grace Company. After a month of hard training only the soldiers that can respond to the mission of the Evzone will remain.

Training:

The basic training of the Evzones lasts one month and  is very tough. It is mainly based on training the physical strength of the precision exercises and ‘building’ a steel personality at the time of service. During the training each Evzone teams up with a partner. The Evzones are divided into pairs (so as to synchronize) and until the end of their service at the Guard they perform their duties only together.

After completing the basic training, the candidates are located to the companies and they are now considered Evzones. Here follows the second stage of their training where their services are only at night so as to familiarize themselves with the service.

The instructors are old Evzones who are at the end of their term and have the appropriate expertise.

Many times the way the Evzones are trained has been criticized. However, you should try to stay still for 3 minutes so as to understand what it means to stand still for one hour. Especially try not to blink your eyes when someone persistently watches you.
